Barnes Active CIC is a community interest company focusing on enhancing the physical and mental health of disabled individuals within the local community.
Through organised projects, inclusive group activities and bespoke programmes, the community interest company's aim is to ensure that those who are disadvantaged by disabilities can access movement and exercise within their local community.
Sponsorship
Would you or your Company like to sponsor an individual aged between 13 and 25, who has disabilities, to receive personal training sessions provided by a specialist coach?
Donate to support a young person. By donating regularly, you can help a young person with additional needs access specialist personal training sessions.
Through sessions many young people see real benefits to their mental health, fitness, motor skills and ability to regulate.
Your generosity can make a real difference to a young person who often finds themselves isolated as they struggle to access mainstream opportunities.
Thank you
“Our son started weekly sessions with Barnes Active after a really difficult year including two su**ide attempts. Barnes Active intuitively understand how to engage and connect with young people with a PDA profile and, within one session, our son felt comfortable and seen in a way no other service - including CAMHS - has ever been able to offer.
“Here he pushes himself, sets himself goals, listens, responds, and is supported in turn with skill, kindness and generosity, and is able to accept and rise to each challenge.
“It's the best therapy he's had, despite it not being therapy: He feels better, walks taller, and is learning to slowly accept his body. He looks forward so much to his sessions.
We cannot thank Barnes Active enough; they've helped save our son by enabling him to feel safe enough to be in his body at last.”

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This will depend on how much you donate. If your donation covers regular weekly sessions, then yes, you will be this young person’s only sponsor. Alternatively, we will combine donations to cover the cost of regular sessions.
-
Yes, sponsorship will make a difference. You are giving a young person the opportunity to access an inclusive safe space where they can feel like they belong. Through regular sessions they can grow in confidence, self esteem and see improved mental health. Regular sessions also improve fitness, motor control and help with regulation.
-
We are the only gym in the area specialising in training those with additional needs. Our staff have all had additional training on top of their level 3 personal training qualification to offer specialised support for our members with SEND. There are many youngsters wishing to access our facilities, that cannot without funding or financial support.
-
Your sponsorship will last as long as you wish to donate. If for some reason the youngster leaves the gym, then we will allocate your money to a new session. You will be updated accordingly.
-
Absolutely. If your donations cover the cost of more than one young person’s sessions then we will allocate the money to multiple people. Alternately, if you choose to make extra donations on top of your sponsored session we can put this towards things such as community events and new equipment for these sessions.
-
No, donations may also go to putting on events for the SEND community such as inclusive exercise activities for neurodivergent children and teens and supporting parents of these youngsters through events such as our Walk and Talk.
-
Due to the sensitive nature of our session and the needs of our members, it is unlikely you will be able to visit the young person at the gym.
