ABOUT US

What do we do?

We offer Personal Training for everyone; whatever ability or fitness level you are. This could be in the form of 1:1, 2:1, 2:2 or online sessions.

We work with children, young people and adults in our private gym based in Stagdsen, Bedford. We are able to offer sessions elsewhere including outdoor sessions in local green spaces and we have the option to do home visits (please enquire with further details as extended travel may incur additional charges).

Online Sessions

We offer online sessions for those who cannot get to the gym. We run two thirty-minute online group sessions a week. During these sessions, there is no pressure to turn on your camera or microphone, which is perfect for those who struggle with social anxiety.

Each session has easy-to-follow exercises and is designed for mixed abilities. Whether you have trained before or are new to exercise we can tailor the exercises to where you are at on your fitness journey.

Our coaches are available to email, text or WhatsApp if you prefer rather than a phone call.

Please contact us for more information about joining an online session or with any questions you may have.

SMALL GROUP CLASSES

MOVE is Barnes Active’s sister company located around the corner from Barnes Active on the same site.

MOVE specialises in small group personal training and teen strength and conditioning classes, built on a community-driven, all-inclusive and non-judgemental environment. Whether you're just getting started or ready to push further, MOVE’s expert-led sessions are designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and train with purpose.

MOVE is a space for those who are happy to share the gym with others, and enjoy training as part of a community.

FAQs

  • There is no set formula, as each individual has different needs, however a rough template may look as follows:

    • 0-10 mins - Warm up, work on mobility, work on stability, co-ordination and balance

    • 11-20 mins - Strength work

    • 21-30 mins - Cardio

  • We have a variety of equipment available, including dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, resistance bands, stationary bikes and rowers.

Our array of non-standard equipment includes a sledge, Olympic rings, ropes, tyres, sandbags, boxes and D-balls.

We also have a collection of more sensory and games-based equipment for our specialist sessions which includes reaction buttons, a boxing machine, a scooter board, equipment for obstacle courses and balance boards.

This makes it easy to tailor sessions to suit everybody.

  • We can offer a private training space, ideal for those who may be anxious.

We can reduce sensory stimuli in the training environment.

We can ensure that the training program is available in accessible format (i.e. visual prompts).

  • We are not only qualified Personal Trainers, but we also have knowledge and experience working with a variety of different Special Educational Needs.

Whilst your everyday Personal Trainer will create a program based on your goals, we will also factor in any additional needs, any adaptations to the training environment that may be required and any additional resources that will ensure that the training session is accessible.

  • Personal Training offers an opportunity to be physically active, burn excess energy, improve fitness, strength, balance and co-ordination, build confidence and establish new skills, under the 1:1 guidance of a qualified expert.

Our Personal Trainers are fully committed to ensuring that each client has the best possible experience, in the most suitable environment, with coaching that guarantees enjoyment and a sense of achievement.

  • At the moment we do not offer outreach sessions, but we do offer the option of online sessions.

These sessions are designed for people who are unable to access our gym setting and can take place at home or another convenient space. If you want to find out more, get in touch with us!
