PERSONAL TRAINING FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
What do we offer?
Our aim is to make exercise and physical activity available to everyone, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - we work with many clients who have these needs already, making us experts in this field.
We offer bespoke, specialist exercise coaching to meet the needs of each individual, at our private gym setting in Stagdsen.
Personal Training can consist of many different physical activities including cardio, strength, using bodyweight and weights, stretching, mobility, flexibility, sensory regulation, learning skills, games, sports and much more.
We want to help our members to improve their quality of life, their wellbeing, their independence, their confidence and self-esteem.
We work with children, young people and adults. This can be on a 1:1 basis or within a small group.
We also boast a private interactive fitness room which is set up specifically for those with SEND needs. This includes: a Nintendo switch with ring fit and just dance, a basketball hoop, LED lighting, an interactive boxing machine, reaction lights, a trampette, TRX, a speed ladder, peg board and much more.
Our SEND Pathways
We offer three different pathways for individuals with SEND to work through, if appropriate. These include:
Full Speed Ahead
For those who thrive on high-energy activity. Alerting exercises that provide proprioceptive stimulation, preparing the body for the demands of the day. Examples include rowing, cycling, skiing, bouncing, jumping, skipping, push/pull exercises - dumbbells, barbell lifts, prowler, rope pulls and ball slams.
Sensory Skills
Fine tuning motor sensory processing, timing and balance. An organising pathway that provides vestibular stimulation. Examples include: balance using a swiss ball, single-side movements, step-ups, coordination using reaction buttons, speed ladders and gymnastic movements using Olympic rings.
Relax and Regulate
A calmer pathway for those who work well with slower movements designed to regulate the nervous system and help centre the individual. Examples include: stretching, sensory regulatory movements, use of resistance bands, yoga poses and Swiss ball work.
We understand that every individual is different and we strive to be as flexible as possible to meet each member’s needs. Some members may dip and out of different pathways and this is absolutely fine!
We’re really proud to be Bedfordshire’s only gym offering SEND sessions with a multitude of specific equipment, programming and expert coaches.
